Q&A with Michael Heffernan
We sat down with our fantastic lifestyle photographer Michael Heffernan and did a NO HOLDS BARRED TELL ALL EXCLUSIVE interview.
Here’s what he said -
For those who are new to your work...how would you describe your style?
Lifestyle with a hint of polish. Real moments with style.
How did you get into photography?
A kid at school showed me his camera and I was hooked pretty much instantly. I quickly realised that photography was a great way of meeting people and being creative. Art college beckoned and within a year of leaving my photography course I was shooting for magazines and this led on to all sorts of adventures for advertising clients.
Whose work did you admire when you started out?
My favourite photographers were old school guys like Henri Cartier-Bresson, Bruce Davidson, Robert Frank.
What's the most important piece of advice you've been given about photography?
Shoot your own work and don’t wait for clients to give it to you.
What's your dream commission?
Shoots that take me to warm places by the sea with lovely people
What's your favourite photograph you've taken?
Changes all the time. The portrait of my wife and son taken last week whilst we messed around at home snapping photos for our passport applications !
What music do you like to have on set?
Whatever the talent likes!
What's for dinner?
What ever my five year old lets me put in front of him!
